Ion Vasile MD.PhD.ScD Professor of surgery

Professor Ion Vasile was born in Branistea, Dolj Country, Romania on 16th May 1952. He graduated at Institute of General Medicine of Craiova in 1977. He completed internship on 1978 and on 1983 finished surgical residence in 1st Surgical Clinic, Clinical Emergency Hospital, Craiova under the supervision of Prof. Ion Busu. He was working as a specialist surgeon on the same clinic untill 1991. when he became chief surgeon. In 1997. he achieved Ph.D with thesis: «Antibiotherapy Practice in Digestive Surgical pathology-Immunologic, Bacteriologic and Clinical Studies». From 1979. he was junior lecturer in Surgical Pathology Department, Medical Institute Craiova, in 1991. became the lecturer at the same institute and in 2002. the Professor of Surgery. He was the leader of Surgical Pathology Department on Dental Medical Institute in Craiova between 1994. and 2003, after what he became the chief of Surgical Semiology Department. At present he is evaluative expert for proficiency in medical research, professor of surgery at Pharmaceutical and Medical Faculty at Craiova University and chief of 2nd Surgical Clinic Hospital.

Professor Ion Vasile is a member of Romanian and international scientific societies: Romanian Surgical Society (member in administration), member of the Romanian Medical Association, Moldavian Surgical Society, European Surgical Society, Romanian Laparoscopic Society and Romanian Gastroenterologist’s Society. He is a member of European Association for the Study of Acute Abdominal Pain ( Dusseldorf) and member of the Balcanic Medical Union.

Over the years he published over 90 scientific studies and articles in Romanian or international reviews and is the author of more then 150 intercorse scientific papers on national or international scientific manifestations.

He is the author of 7 surgical pathology textbooks, 7 student courses, published in 9 volumes and 2 important monographies: “Colon cancer” and “Nosocomial Infections in General Surgery”, both of them published at AIUS printing house from Craiova, in 2001 and 2002 respectively. He also redacted 2 chapters in Surgical Pathology Textbook (Nicolae Angelescu editors): “Nosocomial Infections” and “Acute necrotizing enterocolitis” (Medical Printing House from Bucharest, 2001).

Professor Vasile is in charge of 2 patent acts: “General anesthesia methods” (93784/ 30.X.1987) and „Spinal Anesthesia Methods” (104769/01.12.1994) (Romanian Office for Hallmarks and Patent Acts).
